Midwest Teams Shine in National Spotlight

It was a great year for USTA League teams from the USTA/Midwest Section!  Many sectional championship teams placed in the top four at their respective National Championships.  Congratulations to the following teams on their strong finishes and successful season!

 

Adult 18 & Over 4.5 National Championships (Oct. 24-26, 2014; Indian Wells, Calif.): 

  • The Charleston, W.Va. women (Ohio Valley) went 4-0 in their flight and defeated the Southwest team for a third-place finish!

 

Adult 18 & Over 3.5 National Championships (Oct. 24-26, 2014; Tucson, Ariz.): 

  • The women from West Hills in Western Michigan went 3-0 in their flight and lost in the finals to Southern Cal.  Congratulations on a second-place overall finish!

 

Adult 40 & Over 3.0 National Championships (Oct. 24-26; Rancho Mirage, Calif.): 

  • The men from Stow, Ohio (Northeastern Ohio) went 2-1 in their flight and defeated the Intermountain team taking third overall!

 

Adult 40 & Over 3.5 National Championships (Oct. 31-Nov. 2; Tucson, Ariz.):

  • The women from Indianapolis, Ind. (Central Indiana) won their flight 3-0; they lost in the semifinals to Northern Cal. but beat Middle States for a third-place finish!
  • The men from Carmel, Indiana (Central Indiana) won their flight 2-1, eventually loosing to Intermountain in the semifinals for an overall fourth-place finish!

 

Adult 55 & Over 6.0 and 8.0 National Championships (Oct. 31-Nov. 2, 2014; Surprise, Ariz.):

  • The 6.0 women from Youngstown, Ohio (Northeastern Ohio) finished second, losing to a team from Ocala, Florida in the championship match.
  • The 8.0 women from New Berlin, Wis. defeated a team from N. California for a third-place finish!

 

Adult 55 & Over 7.0 National Championships (Nov. 7-9, 2014; Surprise, Ariz.):

  • The women from Chagrin Falls, Ohio (Northeastern Ohio) made it to the semifinals, finishing in fourth-place!

 

Mixed 40 & Over 8.0 National Championships (Nov. 14-16, 2014; Surprise, Ariz.):

  • The team from Detroit, Mich. (Southeastern Michigan) finished second!  They lost to the team from Southern California in the championship match.
