David Horneffer Wins USTA Midwest Sportsmanship Award

HornefferDavid Horneffer from Brookfield, Wis., received the USTA/Midwest Section’s Wallace R. Holzman, Sr. Award during the USTA Boys 18 District Team Cup events (June 17-19) in South Bend, Ind. This award recognizes the outstanding 16 or 18-and-under age division male player from the USTA/Midwest Section for the highest standards of tennis accomplishments, character, conduct, sportsmanship and amateurism. 

Horneffer is an accomplished junior player, currently ranked No. 1 in the USTA Wisconsin District and No. 2 in the USTA/Midwest Section Boys’ 18 single. Horneffer competes in both USTA/Midwest Section and USTA national tournaments.

As a student-athlete, Horneffer finished as a finalist in the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association singles state championships in both 2014 and 2015. He finished his high school career with an impressive 4.45 GPA and now plans to play collegiate tennis at Dartmouth University this fall. Off the court he enjoys giving back to the game by teaching young players in his community.
